Meet Your Instructor

Phil Calvert is a highly respected exercise professional and educator with over 17 years of experience in the fitness and education sectors. Currently a PhD candidate at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, he specialises in diabetes management and the role of physical activity in improving health outcomes.

As the founder of Fitness & Wellbeing Education, Phil has developed evidence-based training programmes designed to equip fitness professionals with the knowledge and skills to support individuals living with diabetes. His expertise has been recognised nationally and internationally, having served as a Master Trainer with Life Fitness Academy for 13 years and holds an Active IQ-approved Training Provider Certificate. Additionally, he has contributed to strength and conditioning education with World Rugby and the Scottish Rugby Union.

With a Master’s degree in Diabetes, alongside extensive experience in exercise referral, obesity, and diabetes management, Phil is committed to bridging the gap between the fitness industry and healthcare. His work focuses on empowering fitness professionals to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based support for individuals managing diabetes.
